Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department

In 2021, the leadership of Bensalem’s six legacy fire companies—Cornwells Fire Company (16), Eddington Fire Company (28), Newport Fire Company (44/88), Nottingham Fire Department (65), Union of Cornwells (37), and Trevose Fire Company (4)—began discussing a vision to unify into one department.  Driven by a commitment to meet future challenges within the fire service, and to enhance the safety of Bensalem Township, these dedicated leaders developed a comprehensive path moving forward. After several years of careful planning, the Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department officially launched in June of 2024, following a historic Bensalem Township Council meeting. Today, as a unified department, we proudly protect all of Bensalem Township with a strengthened, community-focused approach.
