Administration
This Department assists in the preparation and oversite of the annual budget. In addition, the Department administers a centralized purchasing system and enforces the Township's purchasing policy in accordance with state laws. All competitive bidding is overseen through this Department. John Chaykowski is the Township's Finance Manager, reporting directly to the Director of Administration.
The Department of Administration is also responsible for establishing and administering a centralized personnel system. Compliance with all Township policies, rules and regulations is the responsibility of this Department. All hiring, disciplining, and firing of Township personnel is overseen by the Department. This Department also performs the negotiation and administration of all collective bargaining agreements with the Township's four bargaining units. All grievances related to any of these contracts are handled through this Department.
This Department is responsible for all financial reporting for the Township. The Department of Administration must establish and maintain a centralized accounting system to accurately reflect the assets, liabilities, receipts, and expenditures of Bensalem Township. The Department supervises the Township's cash management program as well as all investment of Township funds. Bensalem Township's progressive cash management and banking agreement is recognized as the finest in Bucks County.
