CAREER FULL-TIME FIREFIGHTER POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Bensalem Township Fire Rescue (BFR), Department of Public Safety is seeking applicants for the position of Full-Time Firefighter. Full-Time Firefighters work 80 hours per two-week pay period based on current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). 2024 Starting salary is $59,488 or $28.60/hour; plus, annual January 1st increases and work anniversary increases as per the CBA. Benefit package, etc.
The duties of the position include, but are not limited to, fire/rescue services, providing emergency medical care, operating fire apparatus, conducting fire inspections, fire prevention activities and community outreach programs.
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, minimum of 21 years age, high school diploma or equivalency, and possess a valid PA driver’s license.
Candidates must possess valid certifications: Pro Board or International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or equivalent Firefighter I; Hazardous Materials Operations Certification; Basic Vehicle Rescue Technician (BVR); NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800; Pump I; and EVOC.
Preferred requirements, or obtained within one years: Firefighter II, Fire Inspector I; PA UCC Fire Inspector Certification; PA Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); and NIMS ICS 300.
Applicants will be required to establish and maintain a residence within twelve miles of the boundary of Bensalem Township within a three-month period following the expiration of their probationary period of employment (as per the current CBA).
An eligibility list will be compiled from resumes, job performance assessment and oral interviews, a limited number of eligible candidates will be offered the position contingent upon a medical exam, psychological evaluation, polygraph, and background investigation.

- Drive and operate fire apparatus and other emergency vehicles.
- Participates in trainings, drills, demonstrations and courses
- Perform inspections: fire, use and occupancy, and permits
- Participates in public education and outreach programs and activities.
- Perform daily equipment and apparatus checks.
- Completes incident reports, violation reports, pre-fire plans, and maintain
records for equipment. - Write and issue parking violation notices for violations related to fire lanes,
fire hydrants, etc.
Necessary Occupational Traits: The following knowledge, abilities and skills represent the necessary occupational traits needed at the time of appointment to perform the essential job functions of the position.
Knowledge:
- of fire suppression, vehicle extrication, technical rescue, hazardous

CAREER PART-TIME FIREFIGHTER POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Bensalem Township Fire Rescue (BFR), Department of Public Safety is seeking applicants for the position of Part-Time Firefighter. This is a part-time assignment with flexible hours for a maximum of 50 hours per two-week pay period based on BFR need. 2024 starting pay rate is $23 per hour
The duties of the position include, but are not limited to, fire/rescue services, providing emergency medical care, operating fire apparatus, conducting fire inspections, fire prevention activities and community outreach programs.
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, minimum of 21 years age, high school diploma or equivalency, and possess a valid PA driver’s license.
Candidates must possess valid certifications: Firefighter I, Hazardous Materials Operations Level, Pump Operations I, Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVOC/EVDT), NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800.
Firefighter II, Fire Inspector 1, PA EMT, PA UCC Fire Inspector Certification and Basic Vehicle Rescue Technician, and NIMS ICS 300 are preferred, but must be obtained within two years.
